Living the life you have dreamt of often means shaking things up, making big changes, and taking decisions that will have a major impact on your life – not just one element, but pretty much everything – personal, work, relationship, etc etc.  We have all grown up reading about how “Change is the only constant”, it might sound good, but when actually putting it into practice might not be that easy or clear. When you do decide to make that ‘change’, you are likely to open up a giant Pandora’s Box called “life”.

I’m a big believer in the Theory of Unintended Consequences [defined as situations where an action results in a potential outcome that is not what was initially intended. The unintended results may be foreseen or unforeseen, but they should be the logical results of the action.]

No one — not your partner, your family, your friends, others in your life can really predict what tomorrow holds for you. The fear of the unknown, the questions about whether it was the right decision or not will always linger in the back of your mind. How will this impact you emotionally, mentally, or psychologically, and what kind of changes will it bring to the world you are used to?  And when you do take the leap and make the transition, you need to give yourself some time to settle in and see how it impacts you/your life and if this is what you had dreamt of.

Ultimately, if you want to take control and change the way you live, you need to take the leap, the leap of faith. Being a Star Wars fan, I love words of wisdom from Yoda [the OG life coach if you ask me, followed by Master Shifu], one of them is “You do or you do not. There is no try.” This quote is a simple lesson in commitment and the power in giving something our all — not just giving it a try.

Taking the leap

The leap begins with the conviction that you are done living life in the current path and making a change. This life just isn’t working for you, you know you deserve better and more and it is about time you took the chance and made it happen. This shift involves having a basic belief in yourself, with a good sprinkle of confidence and trust that the universe has something better lined up for you. You need to believe that good things are coming, and you need to keep an open mind and welcome it wholeheartedly.  Recognize that some hiccups might come your way, but that is just part of the process. You can never really be 100% sure of how things will work out, but hey you owe yourself this, the shot at what is likely to be an amazing future. Take that first step, and don’t look back~!

From the various books I have read over the years, I have started visualizing my future, the way I want it to be, the way I truly deserve it!  If you are looking for a home of your own, or a partner, or something bigger, then literally visualize yourself in that space [ not as I wish I purchase a home or find the love of my life, but as if you have found it and are living it like you own the world]. That is literally how the leap of faith gets activated and becomes a reality. You will notice your confidence growing, and this in turn has a magical impact on other aspects of your life.

I woke up this morning, grateful for the things in my life and happy that I took the leap of faith and am on the journey into a future that I have dreamt of. It was an easy decision, albeit with a few moments of tension and stress, but then that is to be expected. Back in 2011 when I decided to move out of home, it was a similar situation, the only difference was that was still in the same city, so less tension or hurdles. This time around, it is to a different city, and a new life, one that is all mine. It involved shaking things up, not just for me, but for others at home as well. I took a deep breath, told myself it is about time I put myself as a priority, and took the 1st step forward.  Surprisingly, was easier than I thought.

My journey & takeaway

Over the last few years, I have been working on myself extensively and it has helped me tide over the feeling of fear, guilt, and everything else in between. You need to be in a good space to be able to just up and make a decision that affects everyone around you and be ok with it, cos it is going to give you a life filled with love and happiness…When we try to make a major change within a complex system [in my case- family], we do end up causing unintended consequences[ what I have spoken about earlier]. These can either be positive or negative [ plus it depends on your mind frame as well]. If you don’t anticipate the unintended consequences and reactions, you can’t expect to achieve desired outcomes. So don’t think too much or question yourself, you gotta do what you gotta do~

Here are a few things that will happen when you take a leap of faith in yourself and throw yourself into the unknown.
1. You discover yourself and what you are capable of
2. You feel excited and like a whole new person
3. You will no longer feel fear
4. You will become more intuitive and confident in your decisions
5. You will wake up with a smile

It is good to do things for yourself, and be happy about them~ So, go on, live your life your way!

Leaving you with a question or two -What part of your life would you like to change? Is there a leap of faith that will help you get to where you yearn/dream of?
