It was the Aug 15th weekend and this time we were headed to Bombay for a couple of days. I was looking forward to catching up with a friend & maybe my cousin as well. Laks, my cousin had just started college and was in Bombay, away from home for the 1st time as well. I told her of my plans, and we kept in touch trying to figure out when to meet. It was Sunday, my friend & I decided to catch up for lunch at Eve, Powai Plaza [I shall do another post on this], and after that meet up, I was headed to BKC to meet my cousin. I pinged her asking if she wanted to do coffee or ice cream, but she instead asked if we could go someplace and she could have a decent meal. My heart melted, and I said OK.
Met her at her hostel, decided to head to Social and off we went. The Capital Social is located somewhere in BKC [am not very familiar with that area and it seems to be growing on all sides with every visit]. The place was quite nice. Cool decor and interesting seating arrangements [ there was a couple of spaces above a section, that you got to on metal staircases, almost like a train]. We chose to sit on the long table in the middle and got down to ordering food and drinks.
Laks had turned 18 in April and been introduced to different alcohol by her family. Scanning through the menu, the 1st item that caught my eye was the Ferrero Rocher shake. At the mention, her eyes lit up. So, we ordered one of that, two beers, nachos and a paneer makhani biryani.
Drinks arrived first followed by the food, since we asked them to bring it all at once. The beer was good, I had a KF Ultra, while she had a Budweiser light [I didn’t want her to get drunk]. The food was delicious, going by how she polished it off, but we took our time. Spent about 3hrs yapping away, catching up and talking about the upcoming wedding in Chennai.
Even though she’s only 18, it wasn’t weird or awkward, the conversations flowed easy, and we spoke about all kinds of things under the sun. We were done with our beers and food, and she was slowly enjoying the shake. Paid the check and got out to try finding a ride to drop her off at college.
The Capital Social is a place I would definitely recommend for people looking for a cool place to hang out or grab a drink. It isn’t a huge space, but worth a visit.
