Have you ever dreamed of traveling the world through the lens of food? I recently had the incredible opportunity to do just that, thanks to my cookbook club. This month, we embarked on a culinary journey to the vibrant city-state of Singapore.

Our chosen cookbook- Charmaine Solomon’s The Complete Asian Cookbook introduced us to the diverse and flavorful cuisine of Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. From spicy curries to fragrant laksa, we were eager to explore the fusion of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Western influences that make Singaporean food so unique.

The Benefits of a Cookbook Club

  • Expanding your culinary horizons: You’ll discover new cuisines and flavours that you may never have tried before.
  • Learning new skills: Cooking with a group can help you improve your cooking techniques and confidence.
  • Connecting with like-minded people: Sharing your passion for food with others can be incredibly rewarding.

Sver since I moved to Pune, i’ve been looking for events and ways to meet people and create a network. One of them was this cook book club. I have attended one few months back, it was Mexican cuisine and then hit a bit of a health snaffu and couldn’t attend others till September. Finally made it to this month’s #IncrEdibles meet. We had picked the Singapore chapter from Charmaine Solomon’s The Complete Asian Cookbook. The food was yummilicious, the apartment where it was hosted was beautiful and there were some fun conversations through the meet.

The Cooking Adventures

Each member of our club took turns selecting a recipe from the book. Some of our culinary adventures included: Here’s the menu.

If you’re looking for a fun and engaging way to explore different cuisines, I highly recommend starting a cookbook club. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn, grow, and create lasting memories.
