I love the song by Whitney Houston from Bodyguard movie…
I’m every woman, bold and free,
In the mirror, I see me—
Not defined by the world’s mould,
I stand, unyielding, fierce, and bold.
I am the strength in every step,
The power in the breath I take,
My spirit cannot be suppressed,
I rise with every move I make.
Big built, but my heart’s immense,
No fear, no shame, no pretense,
I walk my path with open eyes,
A force beneath these endless skies.
I carve my way through storms and light,
Own every flaw, every fight.
Living life, my way, my song,
I’m every woman, standing strong.
Independent, no chains to break,
My soul is mine, my truth, my stake.
A woman untamed, set to roam,
On my own terms, I build my home.
I speak my truth, I claim my space,
With every challenge, I embrace.
I don’t ask for permission to shine,
I am my own, and I am divine
No dainty whispers, no soft ballet,
I stomp, I stride, I own my way.
Not “feminine” enough by the world’s decree,
But what is femininity, if not being free?
I take up space, I make it mine,
Every inch, every pound, a design divine.
For beauty’s not boxed, nor framed in stone,
It lives in the power of calling your own.
They say, “Shrink yourself; fit the part,”
But I know my worth, it’s in my heart.
I refuse to vanish, to fade, to dim,
I am not their mould—I am her hymn.
So here I stand, with shoulders wide,
A goddess of thunder, the ocean’s tide.
Big, tall, unyielding, and true,
A mosaic of colours, every hue.
I rise from the ground, with no regret,
Every battle, every setback, I’ve met.
In every tear, there’s strength reborn,
Through every night, I greet the dawn.
I build empires from the dust,
With love and fury, grit and trust.
I carry the weight, but I don’t bend,
For I am the storm and the calm, my friend.
Every woman, a force to be known,
We rise together, yet stand alone.
The world may watch, but it will see—
I’m every woman, and I am free.
To the girls who feel they don’t belong,
Who’ve been told their size makes them wrong,
Hear this truth, and hold it near:
You are enough, just as you appear.
For I am every woman, in every way,
Unstoppable, radiant, come what may.
Not bound by standards, not tied to lore,
I am myself—and I need nothing more..
Growing up, I learned that the world often measures a woman’s worth through narrow and often unattainable standards. “Be small, be dainty, be curvy—but not too much, be feminine but not overly so,” society whispered. For someone like me—a plus-size woman, tall, not conventionally “feminine,” and lacking the hourglass figure idolized by media—it was easy to feel like I didn’t fit the mold. And for a long time, I thought that was a problem.
But here’s what I’ve come to realize: I am not a mold to be shaped by others. I am a force. I am every woman.
The Myth of One-Size-Fits-All Femininity
The world loves labels. It categorizes women as either beautiful or plain, worthy or invisible, based on arbitrary metrics of beauty and femininity. It took me years to understand that femininity is not a checklist. It’s not about fitting into a dress size or walking gracefully in stilettos.
Femininity, for me, is strength and softness. It’s the way I carry myself through the highs and lows of life, the laughter I share with loved ones, the wisdom I impart, and the resilience I embody. It’s found in the fierceness of my hugs, the determination in my voice, and the compassion in my heart. It has nothing to do with societal templates and everything to do with authenticity.
Rejecting the Mirror of Judgment
For a long time, I believed I needed to change—to lose weight, shrink my height, soften my voice, or hide my differences—to deserve love, acceptance, and visibility. It was exhausting, a cycle of self-doubt fed by an unattainable perfection.
Then one day, I asked myself a simple question: Whose standards am I living by?
The realization was liberating. Why should I dim my light to fit into someone else’s version of beauty? The world doesn’t get to decide my worth. I do.
Owning My Space
Being a tall, big woman means I take up space—physically, emotionally, and socially. For too long, I was apologizing for that. No more.
I’ve learned to embrace my presence. I am not here to shrink myself to make others comfortable. I am here to take up space unapologetically because I deserve to be seen, heard, and valued.
Yes, I am plus-size. Yes, I’m tall. Yes, I may not tick the boxes of traditional femininity. But that doesn’t make me less of a woman. On the contrary, it makes me every bit the woman I’m meant to be: unique, powerful, and authentically me.
Redefining Beauty, One Day at a Time
Beauty is not a singular narrative. It is diverse, infinite, and deeply personal. My body tells a story—of strength, resilience, and lived experiences. Each scar, stretch mark, and curve is a badge of honor.
To the women reading this, especially those who’ve felt unworthy because you don’t fit the “standard,” I see you. Know this: You are enough, exactly as you are. Embrace your quirks, your uniqueness, your YOU-ness.
You are a mosaic of strength, grace, imperfections, and endless potential. You are every woman.
A Note to the World
To those still clinging to outdated ideals: Look around. Women like me are rewriting the narrative. We are challenging norms, shattering ceilings, and celebrating diversity. The era of “one size fits all” is over.
I am every woman—not despite my size, my height, or my perceived lack of femininity, but because of it. I am proof that beauty comes in all forms, and so are you.
Let’s stand tall, walk proud, and own every part of who we are. Because we are enough. And together, we are unstoppable.
Here’s to every woman, everywhere.
