They say the best things in life happen when you stop overthinking and start following your gut and 2026 is off to an amazing start for us…
Since October, we’ve been in a state of “dog-centric” limbo. We spent months mulling over the idea of adding a second pup to our pack—wondering if the timing was right, if our home was ready, and most importantly, how Chewy would feel about sharing his throne.
As it turns out, we weren’t just waiting for a dog; we were waiting for Haseena.
The “Freagle” That Stole Our Feed
It started, as most modern love stories do, on Instagram. A rescue shelter posted a photo of a “Freagle” pup (a Beagle-Indie cross) with a face that demanded a second look. We filled out the application form on a whim, and the universe moved fast. We loved the pup but kinda knew we werent ready to take on another pup, do the entire training process etc.. Within a couple of days, we were on a call with one of the rescue’s organizers. and was clear when I spoke to her- told her we are good with a grown up dog as well. We talked about our lives, our routine, and Chewy’s temperament. Her verdict? “Haseena feels like the right fit for your family. She is around Indies and knows how to handle indie male dogs”
About Haseena :
-
Breed: Beagle-Indie Cross (The perfect mix of Indie smarts and Beagle sass) – she was abandoned, injured and rescued… God bless the folks who rescued & cared for her…
-
Age: 2–3 years young
-
Vibe: High-octane energy, professional-grade mischief, and a heart of gold.
From First Sniff to Forever
They say the best things in life are worth the drive, and last week, we put that theory to the test… The rescue center sits a good 25 to 30 km away from us—a trek that, thanks to traffic, turned into a ninety-minute pilgrimage. It was a classic, sweltering Sunday, but the heat didn’t matter the moment we arrived. There she was: Haseena, waiting in a separate enclosure, her excitement radiating the second she saw us.
The next hour was a blur of wagging tails and fur balls. We let Chewy and Haseena loose, and the two of them spent the hour weaving between our legs, sniff-testing one another, and generally making sure we knew who was really in charge. f I hadn’t been scheduled to travel for work that coming week, I think we would have bundled her into the car right then and there. But we wanted to do this right. We spent that week prepping the house, doing a massive “puppy shopping” haul, and counting down the days until my return.
The Journey Home
This past Sunday, we finally made the trip back to fetch her. We decided to leave Chewy at home for this leg of the journey—we weren’t quite sure how a Beagle-Indie and a territorial Chewy would handle a long, hot car ride together for the first time. It turned out to be the right call. The trip home was surprisingly peaceful. Haseena settled into the backseat, curled up, and drifted off to sleep. Every now and then, she’d wake up, look around with those big eyes as if to say, “Is this real?” and then settle back down as one very happy little puppy.
Current Status: The Two-Day Mark
We’ve now had her home for 48 hours. Haseena is a 2-3 year old bundle of “Freagle” energy—smart, high-octane, and leaning heavily into her “naughty” side.
Right now, our days are filled with:
-
The Balancing Act: Making sure Chewy feels like the king of the castle while Haseena finds her footing.
-
The Integration: Watching them find their ground and navigate their new shared territory.
-
The Joy: Seeing that empty spot in our home finally filled by a dog who was clearly meant to be here.
—– “quiet” is no longer a word I’d use to describe our house.
Right now, we’re in the “settling in” phase. Chewy and Haseena are currently navigating the delicate dance of sharing space, toys, and human attention. We’re being extra mindful to ensure Chewy feels just as pampered as ever while Haseena learns the ropes of her forever home.
It’s a bit of a whirlwind, and she’s already living up to her reputation of being “quite naughty,” but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Let’s see what the days ahead hold—we have a feeling life is about to get a lot more interesting.
Note:
If you are ever thinking about adopting/bringing home a dog, head over to Freagles of India instagram and bring one of them cuties home.. Please please dont buy from breeders… The dogs really suffer and so will the one you bring home [in the long run] & this is one small step towards stopping breeding..
