We often talk about change like it’s a fresh page or a clean slate. The start of something new. A choice.
But what about the kind of change you didn’t sign up for?

The kind that arrives unannounced, like a delivery you didn’t place.
It shows up at your door with no return option.
And you’re left staring at it, wondering how it found your address.

Over the past year, I’ve had my fair share of those unexpected deliveries—some wrapped in bright paper, others in layers of confusion and chaos. A sudden move. Shifting roles. Unplanned pauses. Relationship recalibrations. Moments where I’ve stood still and thought, “This wasn’t part of the plan.”

But that’s the thing about change—it doesn’t wait for your plan to catch up.
It doesn’t ask for permission. It simply arrives.

Change, the Uninvited Guest

The hardest part? Letting go of the version of life you thought you were building.
We romanticize stability. We like knowing what’s next. We’re all just trying to colour inside the lines of a life that feels familiar.

And yet, the growth? The magic? The uncomfortable push towards something better or different?
That only shows up when we’re nudged (or shoved) outside of that neat little box we’re so protective of.

It’s in the early morning chaos of a new city, where every street is unfamiliar.
In the quiet tension of a relationship learning how to breathe differently.
In the career that detours into something wildly unexpected—but oddly fitting.

What I’ve Learned (and Am Still Learning)

  • Change will come—whether or not you’re ready. But you don’t have to like it to learn from it.

  • Resentment slows you down. So does resistance. The sooner you stop fighting the current, the sooner you can start learning how to swim in it.

  • Grief and growth often go hand in hand. You’re allowed to mourn the version of life you lost, even while welcoming the new one.

  • Softness is strength. You don’t need to “power through” everything. Sometimes sitting with discomfort quietly is the most powerful thing you can do.

A Gentle Reminder

If change has arrived at your doorstep and you’re staring at it like, “Umm, I didn’t ask for this”
take a breath.
Open the box slowly.
You might find something inside that eventually makes sense.

And even if you don’t… know that you’re not alone in feeling lost, untethered, or uncertain.

We’re all just figuring it out, one unexpected delivery at a time.
